Fan and Wave

Finally finished knitting this scarf. I'm embarrassed to say it's been on my needles for over a year. I learned to knit a couple of years ago and I have found it to be so relaxing and fun. I usually knit when I'm in the car waiting for the kids to get out of school - that's half an hour at one school and another 20 minutes at the other. I sometimes knit when my husband is doing the driving but I'm afraid I'm going to stab myself one day if he should suddenly have to brake.

Smokey

Smokey didn't come home last night. He doesn't wander far from home and always comes when I call. He's in and out during the day but I make sure both cats are inside at night. I was up 'til late calling but he didn't show up and this morning I was sure he'd be by the door waiting for me to feed him. I last saw him around 7pm last night and it was shortly after that that I began calling for him, it's now 10am and I've been all around the neighborhood and there's no sign of him. Please, please, please show up soon!

6:30pm: Found him across the street under a bush. He's not himself though, he let me pick him up from under the bush which is unusual and he hasn't eaten. I'll have to keep an eye on him.

The Kids

Busy last few days. Labor Day weekend we spent lots of time with family and friends, including cousins sleeping over one night. It was fun but I got up Tuesday morning feeling tired instead of relaxed. I've had some time during the day to do some painting but I've been distracted for some reason. I think I'm still trying to get back into the school routine including the after school activities and homework, etc. My son is busy with soccer these days (#5) and my daughter is busy being a 7th grader. She doesn't care for organized sports and instead likes to take walks, ride her bike and swim. She's also into art and collecting treasure like her mom. Love it.

My name is Luka

This is Luka. I adopted him 6 months after I was married.

My husband was not a big animal person but he said he would be fine with a kitten. When I visited the animal shelter and went into the room full of cat cages, this scrawny, one-eyed cat was meowing and trying to get my attention. It was half an hour before closing and I did all the paper work and took Luka home. My husband was not very happy with my choice and wanted me to take him back the next day. About an hour later I found my husband watching T.V. with Luka in his lap and a smile on his face. That was almost 15 years ago.
