Luka's Spot

First of all I want to thank you all for the sweet comments you left, it's been a tough week and it helped so much to hear from you. The night before we lost Luka, we somehow knew it would be the last, we all slept together in our bedroom. Luka started out curled up next to my husband, after a bit he moved over next to me, awhile later he wanted to get down (I had to help) and he slept with my son and finally he made his way over to my daughter in the early morning.

Late that same morning our Vet called with the test results and it was obvious what we had to do. At about 1:15 I picked him up in my arms and carried him out to the garden and walked him around to all his favorite spots, I said my final good-bye and handed him over to my husband and daughter. They took him to the Vet and my husband held him during the process (I couldn't- even though it's what I had planned) he then brought him home and buried him under a tree outside my daughter's bedroom window. We planted 17 Violas, one for each year of his life. (The concrete is an architectural piece that happened to be under the tree). It's nice that we have this spot that we can visit and remember. Anyway, he will be missed, I have not known married life without him and he's always been in the kid's lives. Again thank you and now on with the new year.

What a wonderful resting spot for Luka! I remember the morning when my Siamese cat died she climbed the stairs (which she hadn't been able to do for years) to my bedroom and looked right at me in my bed and let out a long loud cry as if she were saying goodbye to me and that was it. It was very, very sad for our whole family. But I knew she had a long happy life like your Luka did. I love that you planted the Violas for him.

That was sweet that he got to spend his last night with love from everyone. Thanks for adding a link to my kitty cause. I got your donation, today with the cards. You have such a beautiful family~

What a perfect ending to a very special life. Looks like his resting place is fit for a king of cats and he was no less than that in your home. Thank you for sharing Luka's last moments with us.

losing a pet, although obviously more than that, a treasured part of the family, is the tough part of loving them. He is handsome for sure.

So sorry to hear about your Luka :( I grew up with several cats that lived long lives too and it was so hard to say goodbye. What a sweet reminder to plant violas in his memory~
